Hey-Hey!
Being a parent and caregiver to a tween isn't always easy, right?
Some of us have already navigated through deep waters with our tweens, while some of you might be thinking, "Thank goodness this isn't me!"
Teaching our tweens their value in our families and community will give them confidence and purpose as human beings. At this age, they can already make a difference in someone's life. The fact that their bodies are changing can be really scary for some parents as well as the tweens themselves... it can be embarrassing for some. Dealing with pimples, literally on your face for the world to see, can be super challenging for some, and this is where we come in.
Tweenology skincare is just what any tween needs to start their skincare routine in a safe and fun way, but also to see the results in their skin clearing up, which in return will boost their confidence. It's as easy as that. Skincare in the beginning, as a tween, is more about learning how to clean your skin because it gets dirty from the hands that have been touching it all day, and who knows where those hands have been, right?! But also from sunscreen that has blocked the pores. The hormones usually kick in a little bit later in tween life, around 11 years and up, and this is where your skin can change again, leaning towards super puberty. Learning HOW to wash your face is the most important step and here it is:
1. WASH YOUR HANDS FIRST (especially your fingertips).
2. USE A PEA SIZE AMOUNT OF FACE WASH, LATHER AND SPREAD OVER YOUR FACE & NECK (you can use more wash if needed).
3. USE A MIRROR IN THE BEGINNING TO MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT MISS A SPOT, LIKE THE SIDES OF YOUR NOSE OR JAWLINE.
4. SING HAPPY BIRTHDAY TWICE (SLOWLY) TO MAKE SURE YOU WASH PROPERLY (we advise you to go over every inch of your face 6 times).
5. RINSE WELL WITH CLEAN WATER.
6. DAB DRY WITH A CLEAN TOWEL.
7. MOISTURIZE WITH TWEENOLOGY FACE CREAM.
As parents, we can encourage, invest, and prepare our tweens for success, even with something as simple as a skincare routine. It's a life skill they will use for the rest of their lives, and it will be a moment they will remember. It's something that makes them feel more mature. Do you remember when you were this age? When you grew hair on all the other parts of your body? When you got your period? Got your first bra? And for the guys, when your voice broke or when you got to shave for the first time? For some, it's in their tween years, for others as teenagers. Either way, as caregivers, we can do our part in preparing them and teaching them about self-care, but also how important they are to us, to their friends, their school, and their community.
We hear this line a lot… "I wish I had this when I was a tween…"
Let's not miss the opportunity.
